Nov. 18th, 2010 01:00 am What is different about a D.O.? Basically, I used to see a guy that was an MD/PHD for my headaches. Now I'm set to see a D.O. and I'm not sure what is going to happen as opposed to everyone else.
My current neurologist (not the one I used to see) has tried for over a year to refer me to see this guy. Everyone in the neurology clinic does not hesitate to tell me that they can't do much for me except try to control as much pain as possible until I can see him. Fourth referral, it went through. I am incredibly lucky because apparently this person is the best in the state and they usually make appointments over a year in advance (which is why my referrals never went through). I got an appointment on January 11.
I have no idea if he is as good as they say or a dud, but I am pretty happy about this. This is the last referral I am supposed to go through before MHNI decides whether to take me or not. He'll try to treat me or send me there. I'm hoping for the former, but I will go through the latter if I have to. It frightens me out of my wits. :/
Honestly I would probably be doing a lot better than I am if not for my sulfa allergy. I can't take Celebrex or Imitrex because of it. I didn't used to be allergic to sulfa and I could take Celebrex and it was amazing. Now, I cannot. I wonder if there's a similar replacement. :/ I guess I'll find out, huh?
