i've been doing layouts lately for people for free, to test whether or not i have the capabilities now to meet deadlines, whether the lyme fog has lifted enough for that. i've delivered three layouts yesterday and today that had a deadline of 4 hours each. i met each in 4 hours or less.
there's less spinal pressure on my brain, my adhd is now controlled and i have the ability to meet projects now. but i'm not going freelance again until i finish the projects i owe from when i tried to freelance and the ADHD+brain pressure wasn't having it.
i owe mackenzie a full refund, or $30 of whatever she wishes.
i owe silence an emoticon set, a poster re-detail or a full refund if she wishes it. settled
i'm confident i can finish both of these by tuesday, communication bearing well, with the refunds setting in sometime this month.
the question is, should i keep doing things for free and tracking my record, or start to trust myself to take a freelance job here or there? if i keep doing things for free, would anyone want any graphics for free? another layout I did recently is
katana_a_banana, modifying a
mintyapple layout.
when i freelanced last, my prices were:
$2 per set of 15 icons.
$5 for a layout header + modified existing CSS overrides.
$5 for a profile redesign.
$10 for a layout from complete code scratch.
$10 for a mood theme.
$30 for a package of all.
is this reasonable, once i've proved myself again? i've got nothing but time and bills that i can pay a lot easier if i start freelancing. i know i can get the job done, but what else do i need to do to prove myself at this point?
